Part of Pern
First published 2002
The Red Star has moved to a safe orbit, ending the deadly Threadfall that plagued Pern for centuries. F'lessan, son of legendary dragonriders F'lar and Lessa, guides his bronze dragon Golanth through this uncertain time. Technology transforms daily life while dragons and their riders question their purpose in a world that no longer needs protection from Thread. F'lessan works alongside Tia and her green dragon Zaranth to find new roles for dragonriders. Some Pernese resist change and fight to preserve old ways. A fresh threat emerges from space, creating catastrophe that again demands dragon intervention. As F'lessan and Tia grow closer, tragedy strikes both riders and dragons. The disaster reshapes not only their budding romance but the entire future of human and dragon partnerships on Pern.
