The Sorority Murder

First published 2021

Lucas Vega cannot let Candace Swain stay dead and forgotten. Three years ago she walked out of a sorority party and never came back. Her body turned up two weeks later, but the case went nowhere. Now Lucas is interning at the medical examiner's office and has found new information the police refuse to take seriously. He decides to go public, launching a campus podcast that reconstructs Candace's last hours and asks listeners to share what they remember. He brings in Regan Merritt, a former US marshal, as a guest lecturer and on-air collaborator. Tips start coming in. Then one of the callers turns up dead. Another tip points toward a secret side of Candace's life that implicates her own sorority sisters. As Lucas and Regan push deeper, Regan discovers that Lucas has been hiding his real reasons for chasing this case. The stakes stop being academic. The killer is paying attention, and Lucas has to decide whether to come clean before that silence becomes permanent.
