The Survivors

First published 2018

The year is 2096, and Earth burns under relentless heat. When catastrophic temperatures threaten human survival, desperate people flock to the Nimitz, a massive vessel that offers two crucial advantages: it can travel north to cooler waters and shelter thousands of refugees. Kyle, just eighteen years old, finds himself thrust into leadership roles as the floating community struggles to stay alive. The young man repeatedly faces critical decisions that could determine whether everyone aboard lives or dies. But Kyle has a problem with authority. He breaks rules from the start, eventually earning confinement as punishment. The regulations exist to keep people alive, yet Kyle keeps defying them. He's not alone in his rebellious streak. Others aboard the Nimitz also ignore the rules, some treating even the most serious restrictions as mere suggestions. As temperatures soar and resources dwindle, Kyle must prove whether he can rise to the enormous responsibility placed on his young shoulders or whether his rule-breaking nature will doom them all.
