First published 2005

Shane Scully pulls the trigger on his former partner, a member of the mayor's security detail. The shooting puts the LAPD detective squarely in the crosshairs of Internal Affairs, the department's dreaded investigators known as "tin collectors." The department keeps Scully close with a temporary reassignment while the investigation unfolds. But Scully discovers he's walking into something far more dangerous than a routine shooting inquiry. Someone is positioning him as the fall guy in a corruption scheme that snakes through the highest ranks of the LAPD. His badge becomes the least of his worries as the conspiracy tightens around him. Scully must navigate a web of departmental politics and dirty cops while fighting to clear his name and expose the truth before it destroys him.
