Willa lives in the forest with her clan and ventures out at night on dangerous missions. She sneaks into the cabins of day people to take their excess supplies, knowing that discovery means death. The day people kill anything they don't understand, her clan has always taught her. But one night when Willa returns to her community, she begins questioning this way of life and the thefts she's forced to commit. She discovers that not all day people are evil and not everyone in her own community is good. The teachings she's believed since childhood start falling apart. Willa must decide what's right when the world she knew proves more complicated than anyone told her.
