Wuthering Heigths Color Graphic Novel

by William Wyler

First published 2022

A mountain storm forces a traveler to seek shelter at a remote house inhabited by a peculiar family. During the night, he glimpses what appears to be a woman's ghost. The housekeeper Ellen shares the dark history behind these walls. Years earlier, Mr. Earnshaw brought home Heathcliff, a gypsy orphan who faced immediate hostility from Earnshaw's son Hindley. Only Cathy, Earnshaw's daughter, showed Heathcliff kindness, and their bond deepened into passionate love. After Mr. Earnshaw's death, Hindley reduced Heathcliff to a stable hand. Though Cathy loved Heathcliff, she craved social advancement and pursued Edgar, a wealthy neighbor. Her betrayal shattered Heathcliff, who fled the house. A decade later, he returns as a rich landowner consumed by vengeance against all who wronged him. This graphic novel adapts William Wyler's 1939 film through colorized impressionist rotoscoping, bringing Emily Brontë's tale of obsessive love and retribution to vivid visual life.
