The worst blizzard in decades traps the residents of Black Creek Village and nearby Cayuga Island in their homes. Few remember that their community sits on the former Love Canal, where toxic waste forced the government to evacuate over eight hundred families in 1979. Not everyone left. Some residents stayed behind in the contaminated zone, hiding underground as the chemicals changed their bodies over nearly forty years. The storm provides perfect cover for these forgotten inhabitants to surface and reclaim their former territory. The current residents have no idea what lurks beneath their rebuilt community. As the mutated survivors emerge hungry and determined to take back what they lost, the people trapped above ground must fight for survival against creatures born from one of America's worst environmental disasters.
