Part of Pern
First published 2011
Lorana has cured the dragon plague that devastated Pern, but her victory came at a terrible cost. She sacrificed her own queen dragon, and so few dragons remain that they cannot protect the planet from deadly Thread fall. Now pregnant and desperate, Lorana considers increasingly dangerous options to find help. At Telgar Weyr, pregnant Weyrwoman Fiona and harper Kindan struggle to maintain hope as dragons and riders continue to die. Time works against them all until Lorana discovers she might manipulate time itself. The plan carries enormous risks. Tampering with time's natural laws could reshape history and destiny forever. Yet Lorana realizes that while time's laws cannot be broken safely, they might be bent. She prepares to take this fateful gamble to secure Pern's future, knowing it may demand an even greater sacrifice than losing her queen.
