Part of Shifters Unbound
First published 2014
Jace Warden arrives in Austin's Shiftertown with a mission: find a way to remove the Collars that control every Shifter alive. The problem is that pulling a Collar off can drive a Shifter insane or kill them outright. Deni Rowe is a wolf Shifter already fighting her own battle. Someone deliberately ran her down in the road. Her body healed, but her mind did not fully come back. Without warning she loses all memory and retreats into pure animal instinct, no human thought left at all. When Jace meets Deni, he sees someone courageous enough to volunteer as a test subject for Collar removal, even knowing the risks. Working side by side, the two of them start to feel the mate bond pull at them. Jace wants to believe in a future with Deni. Deni is not sure a woman who loses herself to the animal can be a true mate to anyone. That question sits at the center of everything: whether healing is possible, and whether Deni can trust it enough to let Jace in. This novella also includes a preview of Wild Wolf.
