Meg Langslow spends her summer helping grandmother Cordelia manage the studios at Biscuit Mountain Craft Center. The newly opened facility faces a growing problem. Someone keeps vandalizing the property, putting the center's reputation at risk. Meg suspects the attacks come from a competing craft center or from developers who want Cordelia to sell the mountain for a resort project. Her grandfather thinks the real target might be him, since his environmental activism has made plenty of enemies over the years. While Meg investigates the vandalism, her grandfather searches the area for a rare gull species. Their separate missions crash together when someone discovers a dead body in one of the craft classrooms. Meg must now identify both the vandal and the killer before the center's reputation suffers permanent damage. She also needs to help her grandfather locate and protect his precious gulls.
