A spy kit arrives, and Henry tears it open. Inside: code-breaking tools, puzzle gadgets, and everything a kid needs to launch a real investigation. Mudge, Henry's enormous dog, crowds in close, drooling on the equipment and barking at each new discovery. Henry's brain starts firing immediately. What if the house is already full of clues? What if that scrap of paper on the kitchen table hides a secret message? Henry converts every room into a crime scene and every ordinary object into potential evidence. He and Mudge cook up their own spy missions, layer in codes and riddles, and work through each puzzle as a team. Henry is perfectly capable of cracking a case on his own. But when Mudge is beside him, every solved code becomes a small victory worth celebrating. The big dog turns detective work into something better than a solo achievement.
