Goldy Bear runs a catering business in Aspen Meadow, Colorado. She takes a job serving dinner at Elk Park Preparatory School's college advisory event for seniors and parents. The evening ends when she discovers the beaten body of Keith Andrews, the school's valedictorian. Someone murdered the top student, but Goldy doesn't know who or why. The crime hits close to home. Her son Arch attends Elk Park Prep and becomes the victim of threatening pranks. Julian, her eighteen-year-old assistant who lives with the family, emerges as the main suspect in Keith's killing. Goldy starts her own investigation to clear Julian and protect Arch. She uncovers evidence that Keith discovered damaging secrets about the school. Her digging stirs up dangerous people who want those secrets buried. The deeper she goes, the more she realizes that Keith's knowledge made him a target. Now her own investigation puts her in the same deadly position.
