The Dragon Has Some Complaints

by John Wiswell

First published 2026

Garrodigh used to have four heads. Now he has three heads, one stump, and constant arguments with himself. Centerhead wants to kill all humans. Bottomhead acts like a wild animal. Upperhead believes he is human. When a battle erupts nearby, the dragon sneaks into an elite rider academy by pretending to be tame. He wants food and shelter. Rider Rania Albright desperately needs a dragon partner, so she accepts his strange behavior. As Garrodigh heals under her care, something changes. All three heads begin wanting the same thing: to protect Rania from the invaders who killed their fourth head. These same enemies now threaten to conquer Kardoša. When attackers storm the academy, the wild dragon and his determined rider must work together to defend their home.
