by Jeff Kinney

Part of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, book 3

First published 2014

Greg Heffley knows exactly who he is. His father Frank has different ideas. Frank decides his son needs to develop some backbone and drags Greg into organized sports and other activities designed to build character. Greg finds ways to dodge these efforts at every turn. He has perfected the art of avoiding anything that requires real effort or courage. But Frank grows more determined with each failed attempt. When Frank finally threatens to ship Greg off to military academy, everything changes. Greg realizes he cannot talk his way out of this one. He must either transform himself into the person his father wants him to be or face the consequences. The threat forces Greg to confront a truth he has spent years avoiding. Sometimes you cannot stay exactly the same forever.
