Vera Wong lives alone above her neglected tea shop in San Francisco's Chinatown. She spends her days drinking Wulong tea and researching her Gen-Z son's activities online. One morning she discovers a dead man sprawled across her shop floor with a flash drive clutched in his hand. After calling the police, Vera pockets the device. She believes she can investigate better than the authorities. No one detects wrongdoing like a suspicious Chinese mother with free time. Vera realizes the murderer will return for the flash drive. She waits and watches as new customers begin visiting her previously empty shop. Her task seems simple: identify the killer among them. But Vera doesn't anticipate growing attached to these strangers. She starts caring about each person who enters her world. As her maternal instincts strengthen, Vera faces an impossible choice. Will she protect her newfound family or surrender the guilty party to justice?
