First published 2017

Twelve-year-old Aramar Thorne clutches his sketchbook as his father Captain Greydon Thorne invites him aboard the Wavestrider after years apart. Aram struggles to fit in with the crew, particularly the tough teenage second mate Makasa who shows him no mercy. Just when he begins finding his place on the ship, brutal pirates attack and destroy the Wavestrider. Aram and Makasa find themselves stranded and must navigate their way home through the dangerous world of Azeroth. Aram documents the strange creatures they encounter in his drawings, but their journey grows more mysterious when they discover that Greydon's compass refuses to point north. Instead of guiding them to safety, the compass pulls them toward an unknown destination. As monsters and wonders surround them, Aram must figure out whether this broken compass will lead them home or toward something far more dangerous.
