Regan Reilly visits Los Angeles with her husband Jack, head of the NYPD Major Case Squad. While shopping in West Hollywood, she bumps into Zelda, a woman she met seven years ago at a game show taping. Zelda recently inherited eight million dollars from an elderly neighbor and won a week's stay at a Hollywood Hills mansion through a charity auction. She invites Regan to a party at the rundown estate. After the guests leave, Zelda becomes ill and asks Regan to stay overnight. The next morning, Zelda makes an unusual request. She wants Regan to investigate the people around her, particularly her father's new wife Bobby Jo, who married him in a Las Vegas drive-through chapel after three months. Regan wonders if Zelda's sudden wealth has made her a target. What she doesn't realize is that someone is watching her too.
