Part of Cozy Capers Book Group Mystery
First published 2027
Mac Almeda runs a bike shop on Cape Cod and leads the Cozy Capers Book Group. When the Friends of the Lighthouse hire Jessica Goodwell as their new tour guide, nobody expects tragedy to follow. Jessica fails to appear for her scheduled summer solstice tour, so Mac's half-brother Derrick volunteers to fill in. He discovers Jessica's body inside the decommissioned lighthouse and calls Mac immediately. Mac tells him to contact police, worried that Derrick might become a suspect again. The situation grows more complex when book group member Zane King reveals he's Jessica's cousin. Police question him as a person of interest. The Cozy Capers decide to investigate despite official warnings to stay away. They discover Jessica had been researching her mother's murder from fifty years earlier. Working with a mystery author they're currently reading and Jessica's niece, an investigative reporter, the group develops their own suspect list. Someone killed Jessica to protect an old secret, and the Capers must uncover the truth before another life is lost.
