First published 2023
Mac Almeida runs a bicycle shop on Cape Cod during the unpredictable weather of March mud season. The new Chamber of Commerce director Wagner Lavoie has organized a Spring equinox festival despite concerns about the changeable weather. Mac enjoys the celebration, sampling flower candies from Salty Taffy's and spring rolls from the Rusty Anchor while watching decorated bicycles parade through town. The cheerful atmosphere shifts when Mac notices tensions brewing between Wagner and several townspeople. The festival takes a deadly turn when Wagner's body is discovered in the Book Nook, crushed beneath a fallen bookshelf. Mac and her mystery-loving book club, the Cozy Capers, cannot resist investigating the suspicious death. They must apply their collective detective abilities to uncover which local resident wanted Wagner dead and why someone chose the bookstore as the scene for murder.
