Part of Orphan X
First published 2020
Joey Morales was the final recruit in the government's Orphan Program before it ended. She trained as an assassin but failed to complete the program. Evan Smoak, the former agent called Orphan X, saved her from that life. Now Joey lives alone with her dog and attends college while Evan watches over her. On campus, Joey tries to prevent a young woman named Becca Morgan from killing herself but arrives too late. Joey discovers what pushed Becca over the edge: a document called The List that ranks campus women by their sexual appeal and bedroom skills. The cruel ratings drove Becca to take her own life. Joey decides to find the boys who created this ranking system. She calls on her mentor Orphan X for help and uses her assassin training to track down those responsible. This time Joey cannot work from the shadows. She must expose herself to danger to get justice for Becca and protect other women targeted by the secret group behind The List.
